We are on the home stretch now. We stopped at the Liard Hot Springs for some much needed mineral rejuvenation and then headed off to Muncho Lake where we found the last campsite on the river.
Today (Wednesday August 6th)we are aiming for Fort Nelson and then onto Dawson Creek, Mile zero on the Al-Can. We deliberately chose to do the route in reverse, driving North on Cassiar Highway for the views.

There is so much written about the Cinnamon Roll/Bun and the quest for the perfect one.
I think we found it at Testa River Lodge! All we heard, between mouthfuls, was BEST EVAH! Indeed it was a magical experience! It was half finished before we returned to the RV.

Well we made it to Mile Zero and a feeling of finality set in.

A long day of driving put us near Jasper which we visited the next day. We hadn’t stopped in the actual town on our previous route. It was scary to see how the 2024 wildfire nearly destroyed this lovely little town. The fire came down the hills and engulfed numerous buildings in town. Two of four gas stations went up in flames. You would find a stretch of establishments untouched and then a blackened shell next door. It must have been terrifying!
After brunch we headed down the Icefields Parkway (southbound this time). Once again the scenery did not disappoint.

The volume of water coming through the chute is astounding. Check out the video below (turn down the volume!)

Farewell Banff and Canada – a truly bittersweet moment to be leaving for the border at Coutts, Alberta. In my first post I said “our return date is up to the Gods”….. wrong, it is up to Lynne!

Lynne found a fantastic bakery – “French 50 Bakery” in a delightful little town of Okotoks, Alberta. We savored our last meal and bought fresh bread and pastries for the next day. We stopped by a truck wash to clean up Ushingi and tow and headed for the border.
